Our commitment to sustainability
A total of 6 million Christmas trees and 12500 tonnes of Christmas decorations are discarded in landfills each year.
The Christmas market has huge potential from a rental industry perspective given it is one of the most wasteful periods of the year. We are all aware of the damage that overconsumption is doing to the planet and this is where rental comes in as a much more sustainable option than buying new.
Artificial vs Real
When you rent a Christmas tree, the same tree can be used for several years, reducing the need to cut down new trees each year and lowering your carbon footprint. This helps to preserve forests and reduces the environmental impact associated with tree harvesting. In many areas, cut Christmas trees end up in landfills rather than being used for compost or replanted for use the following year.
Rented vs Purchase
Renting a tree can help minimise waste, as the tree is returned to us for reuse the following year. Renting decorations is also a more environmentally friendly choice as it reduces the demand for new decorations to be manufactured each year.
SKOOT Partnership
As part of our commitment to the environment, we have partnered with SKOOT, a top 5% B corp, to plant trees in the Amazon, Kenya and Nepal, aid reforestation and cut carbon emissions. For every order placed on our website, Bough&Bauble will commit to planting a tree via SKOOT.
